Grantville.kmz - Google Earth

This is a landing page for my Grantville.kmz file. This file is basically an overlay for google earth that provide a view of Grantville as presented in Eric Flint's 1632 novels and universe. The town of Grantville was transported from West Virginia in the year 2000, to the middle of Germany in 1631 by an event called the "Ring of Fire".

This story is told in the Eric Flint novel 1632, and carried on in a number of other novels and anthologies. The story line is still growing.

The Grantville.kmz file is basically a way to display the Ring Of Fire, including Grantville and some associated locations on Google Earth as it would appear in it's "new" location in Germany.

I got the Grantville overlay image from the 1632 Tech maps page. I just clipped out the ROF part of the map, and some water, and then very carefully edited it and overlayed it. It is not perfect, but it works. It lets you see where things are in Grantville with relation to things around Grantville. It even shows a few important nearby locations like the location of the battle of the crapper.

Grantville.kmz - Note, if you get a web page full of garbage when you click this link, right click it, save to your desktop, and then find and double-click that file.

Another, maybe better, way to try this is to create a "Network Link." To do so, open Google Earth, go to "Add" in the menu bar "Network Link..." in the menu that opens. Type "Grantville" or some such in the Name box, and copy and past the text in the next line into the Link box. Then click the OK button.

I hope this overly provides some usefullness to others.

Enjoy!
